Our plugin relies on the Google Place API for location-based searches. However, as of March 1, 2025, Google has stopped displaying the Place API in the Google Cloud Console for newly created projects. This change affects users who are trying to enable the Place API for new projects.
We understand the impact of this change and are actively working on integrating a new search method using the latest Google API. This development is a major update and is expected to take approximately 10 to 15 days to complete.
Google AutoComplete Search Dependency #
The Google AutoComplete Search feature relies on the Place API to function properly. With the introduction of Place API (New), AutoComplete search is no longer working which is unexpected. This means users who are using the newer API will experience issues with location suggestions and predictive search functionality.
We are working on a solution to restore this feature with the new API.
Current Solutions #
Until we provide a built-in solution for the newer API, users can apply one of the following workarounds:
1. Use an Existing Google Cloud ProjectEnabling Place API #
Users can enable the Place API by visiting the following link and enabling the API in their Google Cloud project:

2. Use the Geocoding API as an Alternative #
For users who cannot access the Place API, an alternative is to switch to the Geocoding API:
- Open the ASL plugin settings.
- Locate the Search Type dropdown control.
- Select the Geocoding option.
- Save the settings and test the search functionality.
We are currently developing an option to support Place API (New) within the search type settings in Agile Store Locator. Once available, this will restore seamless integration with Google’s latest location services.

The option “Search by Stores (Database)” can also be used as it provides both Geocoding and Database Type-Ahead Search as an alternative to Google AutoComplete.
